Closure of I-680 planned in Fremont this weekend

FREMONT Southbound lanes of Interstate will be closed to traffic in Fremont over the weekend as the California Department of Transportation performs critical bridge and pavement repairs The closure near the Mission San Jose Overpass will begin at p m Friday with all southbound lanes closed to traffic and work beginning by p m Construction is expected to be completed by a m Monday July These -hour closures are necessary to safely and efficiently complete key construction exercises including full bridge deck resurfacing and approach slab repairs Caltrans reported in a press release announcing the closure and construction This work must be performed without live traffic to ensure worker and motorists safety Concentrating these operations during weekend closures will help reduce the overall duration and impact of the project Southbound traffic near the construction zone will be redirected through the Mission Boulevard off ramp and back onto the freeway at the next on-ramp Additional nighttime work including pavement striping barrier installation and other finishing elements will take place through Spring according to the notice
